In search of the unpredicted
A piece of experimental writing was prompted by a call for papers, following a conference in Amsterdam where I was due to facilitate a walk. Covid got in the way and I left Amsterdam 2 days before the conference was due to start.
This piece of writing became a way of countering my absence. It developed as a holder for chance happenings.

The book has been designed to be taken on a walk.
The writing is activating an explorative process where stepping, stitching and writing play together on the surface of the page. It alluded to an intention to grapple with the human-centric nature of these gestures. In this way it created an opening and impetus for further writing….whilst questioning how far the human act of writing can pursue this.
Another conundrum.

Additionally, it was awarded as one of “The Most Beautiful Swiss Books 2023” and “The Best Dutch Book Designs 2023.”
